Summer, Soon

Bananas and Coke -- no better meal
On a June day like today.
Even the soda going flat
And the green blush
And tart bite of the fruit
Cannot diminish this perfect moment
On my rooftop:

Noon sun, eastern breeze,
A pile of peelings, ice crackling,
Warm and cool and sweet
And tart and almost full
And just getting started.
